3 page note found in 2 jars 10 inches deep at Quarry Hill woods.

I was down about 6 inches and i see the bottom of a bottle.
I made the hole wider as i thought it might be a nice old bottle and didn't want to break it.
The iron lid was on the bottom of the hole around 10 inches deep and that was what i heard.
When i broke it apart it was a jar inside a jar.
The jar inside was face down near the iron lid with a brown cover that looks like plastic .
I put the jar in a plastic bag as i broke it.
The metal cap looked like it was stuck to the jar inside and i thought it was some kind of clear resin .Almost looked like wax but it was harder than wax.

Bottom of jar says S.F.

The top of jar shows the metal lid is set down inside the jar. See the second jar inside the other jar.And the notes inside it. # sheets of paper date starting Saturday 9,January 1926.

I'm thinking the note in the bottle i found last year was written by the same person as this note and was about a city block away from the note last year.
They were wet and i hosed them off and dried them a little and scanned them.
Don"t ask what it means as i don't know anymore than you. Thanks

I think maybe it's Betty Lou, not Tow. Not that that makes anything any clearer. And maybe "Put Lowery there."

Yes the handertting is a little different at the bottom of that page
but I believe it is the same autor, I even thought maybe Betty Ford but I dont Know

my revision of this note where i figured out it was Monroe Cedar Rapids, and underneath
it looks like JA., well I balieve That is IA. abbeviation for Iowa, so in the first set of note Roger
found where it states Hennesy Boss 1894 out side mothers house then underneath that it is what looks like
C.A. JA. i believe this is C. R. IA. so mothers house was in Cedar Rapids Iowa.

You've done a heck of a job making it out. I looked at the first page and got nowhere. Sometimes in my job I have to translate very old ladies handwriting that send recipes to our farm newspaper and there's a couple of auctioneers whose ad copy gets pretty hard to read but this takes the cake!

Roger found his first note in a bottle in june of 2011
it was a whskey flask type bottle the notes were rolled up
in a tobacco lable and some sort of form from the Rochester state hospital
on the form i see the date 1917. pleas correct me if i am wrong Roger
the hospital was torn down years ago and quarry hill park sits on part of the
old property.

Yes that is correct.

yes i have looked for a betty colf, or calf, found an elizabeth colph who lived in
Rochester ward 2 for many years, but she was born in 1855, but its not beyond possibilty.

Have you used the Find a Grave website at all? I see in there that many of those names are buried in Lynn County. I did find a Franklin Rolland over in Illinois.

Still think it might be Betty Lou... that was a common first/middle name combo for women

This might be a Witches jar spell an old form of folk magic.
The jar had some liquid inside and small seeds like dill that i washed off with the water hose.
I wore plastic gloves when i broke it open and i didn't try to smell it so i haven't a clue what was in it.

I can find all of these people in Linn county Iowa, very few of the names turn up in Rochester Minnesota,
there was a Joseph Holets in Chatfield Elmyra township which isnt far at all, he is the right age,
as i beleive he is reminising in this note when he say's Ford car company 1894, Me in School in Cedar Rapids IA.
There is a Holets, and a Zahradnik buried in the oakwood cemetery, which is not far from where Roger is detecting
but i beleive they are not to distant relatives from the people in the second note found.

The Author of the notes may have been an inmate at the hospital, or maybe worked there
or maybe he was a guy who traveled around doing odd jobs, some of the stuff roger posted on the last thread
was kinda hobo related, or homeless person related.
