Hey All,

Its been Awhile since I have seen Silver coming up out of the ground. So yesterday I decided to hit a place I normally hit for Gold. When I went there, there was an Excavation crew there ripping out the sidewalks and grading the dirt down. I asked one of the guys working if I could go thru the piles of dirt they had removed , he said it was fine and thought i was nuts

Well, instead of using my detector, i just used the pinpointer and started sifting thru the dirt, First metal object i got was a zinc penny, which i expected. Next target was a 1935 Mercury DIME!!!..It was Awesome..its hard to explain this spot, as I dont want all of North Texas trying to track it down :laughing7:

But the area is so littered with Coins and Jewelry, that when I detect it, i normally have to turn anything lower then a quarter off, because there is coins every set of the way.

The workers left and I decided to hit the area they had jsut scraped, and I had it still set on Quarter and Nickel mode only, when I get the first signal, which was extremly shallow, and out pops this beauty

its only my Second Standing Liberty since I have been detecting, But the first one I found with a Date! 1930

I was super excited and called my buddy to share the news, And as I'm talking to him, out pops a 58 Rosey.

So needless to say, I will be climbing in this dirt piles the rest of the week

Oh I didn’t mention that in the 2 hours I was there I also found 8 wheaties and about 3 dollars in clad..this place is SERIOULSY loaded with coins.

Thanks for reading!

Super Nice when you find the silver, and even more special when you find them ''walkers''! :icon_thumleft:

Wow that's fantastic

Congrats! I got 7 slq's for the year but only 2 with a date. Get back there and hit the place hard before they move the dirt out.

DAMN!..Thats Great!...And Yea, I went back last night, luckly they havent moved it yet, But ill post my finds here in a bit...its was another nice little score

I have only found 2 SLQ but they both have dates! A definite PLUS!

Nice!! North Texas huh? Here in south Texas we don't have many places like that. Congrats!

Must have been the site of an old bank, or general store. Don't worry though, I definitely ain't flying 2,000 miles to steal your spot 8-)

They let you crawl around at the dumps in Texas? I think you need a Million dollar bond and a scavenger license to do that in California.

Good score on the silvers.....and wishing you luck on your return trips.

Regards + HH

haha..Well thats good, the only reason I didnt want to mention alot about it is the fact that my first year detecting, I found a really nice Barber Quart. and described where I was at, and not 2 days later, I was ou there hunting and meet another T'net'r that knew the spot i was talkign about. It turned out good thou, he is now my hunting buddy

I believe in my county, We had rural neighborhood or Homestead dumps until about 1974. I would certainly like a crack at a few of those. Just haven't had a chance to research any of them yet.

Very cool finds love the standing liberty and the Rosie's too

Good deal - I'll take a Standing Lib any day of the week, month, year!
