Only able to get out a little bit this evening after putting the kids to bed so figured I'd check out some spots along our 1/4 mile driveway. Found this pretty cool token to Doutrich's clothing which I believe was in Pottsville, PA in the day. I was excited to see this .50 cent piece coin shaped object pop out of the ground.

Hey Mike.....cool token!! I just scoured my back-up drives and all my pic files looking for a pic of mine, I found one just like it at either Reinerton or Orwin about 2 or 3 years ago. Doutrich's must have been THE clothing store of the era...LOL!!

Congrats!!

Dave

Giving away that kind of money, they had to be big. I'll bet the people that lost those were kicking themselves for a long time.

HaHa must have been! I like finding these things. Its only the second one I found but neat because they have such local ties.

dated tokens are cool. congrats

Found this on website I just googled:

Current data is only available till 2010. $62.20 in the year 2010 has the same "purchase power" as $5 in the year 1925.

The 2010 observation is preliminary and may change.

Source note for "Purchasing Power of Money"

Nice find!
Personally, I think tokens are just as cool as coins. I wish I could find more of them.
Even better on your own property. Got to love that.

$62 isn't chump change. How much effort do we make to save that much? Grocery sale, cents off coupons, turn the water off while tooth brushing, don't accelerate too fast, etc. etc etc. And I agree with the aspect of dated tokens. Extra cool.

cool token!!! MR TUFF

This has been attributed to Harrisburg and Pottsville, PA - quite possibly the business had other retail outlets as well. Token and Medal Society (TAMS) maverick #16515.

So, so, true.
In Denver, we have Menter's Clothing tokens, but aren't nice enough to show the date.
Great find!
