Detector(s) used
Whites Eagle Spectrum, Compass X-100, Whites Beach Hunter ID, 2 Whites Spectrum XLT's
I started this last section yesterday in the heat of the day. On my second pass I found a ring. I got excited because I saw gold and diamonds when it first pooped out, then when I saw what it was I knew I had only found another junque ring. It was gold plated with the word "LUCKY" spelled out in fake diamonds. Then I thought, maybe this is a sign of things to come, and I got excited again. That only lasted about half way through the next pass, when the meter on my detector went blank. After trying several more times I came to the realization that the Redneck Meter Cover didn't work. The sun was still heating up the LCD display causing it to overheat and die.
So back to the house I went to make a major modification to the cover. The whole time thinking, lucky ring my a$$. Being the tightwad that I am, I don't want to spend the $75.00 to have the meter replaced. Especially when I'm about to buy a water detector. After looking at it and doing some thinking I came up with a new design on the meter cover to keep the sun off of the display. To test it, I took it back out to the field in the heat of the day today. It worked great and I finished the last section with no problems. I ended up with a little clad, a butterfly trinket, a jet fighter, a pin that says R U with glass diamonds, and that "LUCKY" ring. Now the message is complete, R U LUCKY. Now I think I will go back to the field where I found those sports nuts nobody can identify, and see if I can find some more.

You have to do what you have to do!! As long as it works and you get the job done!! Congrats on a good day!

Yea, my homemade one you had to tune to a transistor radio. It had a wooden wire wrapped coil. That was in 1966.

looks like you really did that park good, way to clean it out, waiting for the next post you have take care, treasureguy

Hey piggy I have the answer to the sun problem...
Just get one of those Huge Mexican Sombreros, that will not only shade your machine but it will shade you with about 4' diameter of sun block.....
Me and my huntin' buddy Ima are lookin' for ones to wear here...

Keep safe...

Not a bad idea!

Gotta say that's an interesting cover. Don't know if I will make one for my Eagle Spectrum, but if I do......Nice finds on that field. Well, ready to hit it again? As you know, it's never really hunted out.

Not only does it keep my meter from blanking out in the sun, it makes reading the meter easier because it is shaded. I put it through the test today.

Ilove the aerial layout Piggman...good visual with the story.Look's like you did good!!You'll have to get a "total" pic of all the find's one day.Congrat's and HH!!

Nice finds Piggman! If I were you I'd go over that area that you guys took the kids. With kids there is alway distraction and you never know what you missed; I'd at least give it a quick once over. Keep up the good work guy.

Oh I will, one of these days when I am confused and can't figure out a place to hunt, I'll go back. That happens pretty regular with me. :D

You rock piggman!

HI PIGGMAN,
I LOVE THE CREATIVE TOUCHES ON THE METER. HOW DO YOU LIKE THE ON BOARD PINPOINTING PROBE ON YOU BEAUTIFUL WHITES MACHINE.............PACO

I love that pin pointer! I can tell depth of shallow objects better with it then relying on the meter. It saves a lot of time and digging. I can also tell the size of a target better with it then with the detector itself. I think it's the best!

The post office delivers again! ;) :D Nice sunshade. What efforts we will go to just so we can detect. Nice job and keep at it.

Bob
