Dad is away again & Shaun7 is visiting to detect on our 2nd Fav Field. I only went out for 2.5 hours, & was pleased to see he had ploughed & rolled most of the other half of the field.

Within 5 minutes I had a large Roman Coin, after 30 minutes a hammered, 45 minutes the Gold Coin & before the first hour was up another hammered! :o What an hour that was, the blood was pumping after getting my 4th Gold Coin this year (Dad 0), so by far my best year ever & still time left!

Nice Charles I Royal Farthing 1620s
1 Roman Bronze Coin
2 Hammered, 1 Edward IV?, & a farthing of?
Gold Half Soveriegn of Geo IV 1828
Bits & Buttons....

Shaun7 make sure you can get up early tomorrow  :icon_thumright:

Crusader, you are one lucky dog to have hunting grounds like that. The gold coin is sweet.
I know this is a stupid question but do you or any of your friends know the guy who made
the big find? How close are you to the location?

None of us on here knew him but 'Steve_UK' detects in fields only 2 miles away from where it was found, so he was by far the closest.

I'm over 200 miles away from it.

Very nice :hello2: well done!

YOU are the Man Cru!!! :hello2:

wow, I probably would never leave the field if we had stuff like that to find here. I hope oneday my title can read...one gold coin found in a lifetime.

that is a beauty

sweet, sweet find!!!....congrats.....just curious, about how much money (US) would someone be losing if they lost a half soveriegn in 1828?........I mean, what would it buy back then?.....I would assume someone was looking for it if they knew they lost it?

Great find/year!

HH all!

About 3 weeks pay for most people, but it was more likely someone with lots of money that lost it. Most likely not lost on the field but dumped there with other rubbish or sh*t.
