5 cent bread token.

After weeks of looking at everyone’s great finds I finally get to post one.
There tearing up the sidewalks at the down town court house square. They just started the first of the four sides.
The site is very target rich with lots of clad. And best of all it’s been getting cooler.
I’ll take my camera back and get a pic of the place.
I found myself filling in my holes even though you wouldn’t of noticed among all the tore up ground. Where the heavy machinery was its down 1 -2 feet.
If you know anything about this token, I'd like to hear what you know.


I just had to scratch it ever so lite.

When was the last time bread was 5c a loaf? That will give the year.
After a Google search I found the name Pollock and Middle Point Oh in the same article but nothing relating to bread.

The 1900 Dun lists H.G. Pollock as a general store in Middle Point, Ohio.

Nice token, it's unlisted in even the Second Edition of Ohio Merchant Tokens. I'd recommend sending a picture or foil rubbing along with measurements to the Indiana-Kentucky-Ohio Token and Medal Society. Ohio new finds-Dale Wilges, 108 Oak Street, Buckland OH 45819. Sorry, no email listed for Dale. Unlisted tokens are cool finds , although not always valuable.

Thats a very nice token. I almost like digging tokens more than coins because they are more personal. I dug a bread token myself when in Ohio about 15 yrs. back. It was near my Brother in Laws area of Troy. It had the bakery brothers name on it, but I cant remember it without consulting my token book. It said "Good for one Loaf" Nice find.
