Got out with sniffy back to 2 old sites that I been to in the past.there's so much area between these 2 adjoining cellar holes you can spend years trying to cover all the ground in the stone walled fields adjacent to each cellar hole.
anyways we both had a good day! sniffy got a copper and a 18kt gold wedding band.
I got a 1744 King George II copper,a counterfeit pewter seated liberty quarter & another 1820 General Lafayette button.this is my 4th!
a crotal bell and a dog sportsman button.
75 coppers on the year

Great Finds! Awesome job on the King George and cool button! The counterfeit Seated Quarter is very interesting, Makes you wonder how many people it fooled? And if the person living in that area is the counterfeiter? Way to go on another awesome hunt! :icon_thumright:

Good range of finds. The counterfeit is in pretty good shape.

Nice CFT and GII ! Are your other Lafayettes off center strikes??
You're getting close to the 100 Copper mark :occasion14:

thanks! this is my only offstruck one

Those are some First Rate finds~!

I like the Lafayette button. Pewter counterfeit is in great shape and should display well. Worth considering coating with elmer's glue mixed with a little water to keep it from flaking away.

Congrats!

Way to go on #75!!! I've never heard of a Counterfeit Seated coin before? Seems like a pretty rare find! Congrats on all the finds.

What are the chances....... The buttons are not your run of the mill, average buttons and to find four at three different sites is awsome :headbang:

Gen Lafayette must be trying to tell me something? did he bury a cache of gold coins by any chance? lol..speakin of Lafayette gold...my hunting buddy Forino works at the Mattatuck museum here in Waterbury and he was workin that day..a lady comes in with a gold(yes solid gold) Lafayette button affixed into a brooch she wears.she wanted to fill out paperwork assuring when she dies the button goes to the museum.now Mike tells me the story of how 4 were made at Waterbury button to be presented to Lafayette on his return trip to the states in 1820.now the coat is in the Smithsonian with 3 buttons affixed to it.here's the 4th! crazy she walks around wearing this on her jacket daily lol

As you know Dave, my $ is on you to make 100 Coppers by Dec. 31. You are on track for another incredible year detecting. Great finds. HH, Quindy.
