Lee said he had half a city block for us to hunt in one of the historic districts. The ground was frozen but we toughed it anyways. I got lucky and hit a little spot that gave up 2 Indian Heads and a nice 1883 Seated Dime. At first I saw the reverse and I yelled out Barber because I was not expecting to see and Seated come out of there, but I got lucky! The 1864 Indian Head was there as well and I scratched it, but the hole was already there, haha.

Then Carl and I headed out to get permission in some farm fields. We got permission to hunt two old schools listed on the 1887 map but the ground was too hard to budge the ground so we came back into town looking for more vacant lots. We found a bunch of them and hunted two of them. One gave up two Indian Heads and the other gave up 5 Indian Heads, 4 of which were all in the same hole. I also got that nice New Castle, Indiana, $5 Piano token.

Carl also got some wheats, a 1904 Indian head and a nice 5 cent cigar token.

The years on the Indian Heads were:

1864
1883
1888
1895
1902 - 2
1903
1904 - 2

I also got 7 wheats.

Brian,

Way to go, man. I love IH's and those are just plain awesome. Are they usually in such great shape in your area? The seated is great too, and that token! Congrats all the way around on a hunt to remember.

Yeah, about 95% of them come out in pretty good condition, just green.

What can I say? Everything has been said. Good job, Brian.

Hey Bscofield6
The token is nice, and the seated is an awesome find. Sorry to hear the ground is frozen-hope some warm air blows through your way.

Hey Brian,

Any concerns with MDing in Historic Districts? Do you need to get permission from the Historic Commission?

The reason I ask is that my town (MA) has historic districts also, and I'm waiting on word from the administrator as to whether I can hunt there.

Wow, nice finds, gotta love those IH's and that GREAT Seated dime.

I'm not sure how many IH's I have this year, have to count them. I know I have found
a few. LOL.
