Bob, that area has been exceptionally good to you. . . just think how well you would have
done at the races with all those trifecta's. . . (but then you wouldn't have found all that cool stuff :D.)

That Eagle button is a GREAT find. . . especially in this area.

Take care,
Mark

Hi Bob,

I'm up in McHenry and although i've found reading this site fascinating.. i've been hesitant to buy a MD due to the fact that 'i thought' it would be hard or near impossible to find pre 1930s coins and/or old artifacts in illinois.. especially here up north

not asking for your spot but more of your general opinion based on your experience... what types of places would contain a mini-treasure like you've found?

there are some nature/conservation parks / preserves up here.. would they be targets? i'm not interested in just finding coins in general but older.. more interesting ones- (so i'm assuming that rules out tot lots..etc?)

i'm near richmond which has a ton of 'old' history.. but just not sure on where to search... i'm sure most is private property these days

any ideas appreciated!

90% of my hunting is old house's. I will call the number on the sign if it's for sale. I will ring a door bell and ask or if I see a person outside the house that I might want to metal detect I will walk up and start a conversation about detecting ( Male's tend to give the permission more then female's)
I know a person who demo's houses for a living too.
This site was from calling the listing agent and he too detects so it was a fun bonus..
I hope that answers the question....
Most my targets are 4-8 inches deep so get a good machine.

LOL....That was a catchy "Title", Bob!! I was thinking to myself....9 Trifectas?? :icon_scratch:

That looks like such a productive place to detect. You did very well. You sure were digging those low conductors. Probably a lot easier around a home than at a trash filled park.
