I hunted a spot I've been wanting to get to for about 5 hours today. I was "certain" that I'd find some good stuff.
Well, you just never know. I found two keys, about 18 cents in clad and about two gazillion pull tabs and pop tops. What a disappointment.
Then it started to rain. I waited it out and decided to do a quick tot lot hunt before dark.
I wasn't there five minutes and I got a weak sounding signal. I almost passed over it after digging all of those pop tops but something told me to just dig the dang hole anyway. I'm glad I did.
I flipped over the wood chips, dug down about 6 inches and saw a nice shiny gold thick hoop earring in the hole. It's not huge but it's thick and heavy.
All told I got $2.62 in clad, another fake silver peace sign earring, one more key, a really ornate kids butterfly pendant, a cool pewter looking button with an angel on it and a 2005 Dave and Busters token. Not bad for a last ditch effort before dark.
You just never know. My spot I was so sure about yielded nothing noteworthy and the playground gave up some gold. I love the surprise factor of this hobby.
