The temps are finally letting off a bit so I decided to hit a local spot. I haven't hunted a New Jersey site for months now, but it was finally time to visit an oldie I've beaten to bits. I only had a small strip of clear area, but something unexplainable happened - I scored three coppers. Perhaps I'm terrible at detecting...

The first signal I dug was a copper. Normally I would just pack up and go, but I stayed.

A video since I had a feeling. Unedited because I'm good at detecting, bad at video editing...

Of course in between I dug a ton of nails and junk iron. One mid tone, no lows.

And that "black glass"

Three coppers in 2 hours from this site is insane. I've been skunked here more than I care to share. It just goes to show there's always at least one more;)

Way to go again, Speedhunter. If I would you I would never plan to hunt for more than two hours-the short hunts seem to bring you good mojo.

Thanks Glenn. I should just resort to short digs. A majority of my longer days seem to come up short. But then again when I hunt an entire day, it usually involves me sniffing out fresh old sites, which by nature has a low return rate;)

Cheers

Awesome coopers! Great hunt for sure!

Awesome, Steve--and still some detail and dates on those coppers! Ya! Congrats. -Lisa & John

Thanks Lisa. I'm headed back over there today. We shall see if more pieces in the ground show their face. Cheers

Revisit copper. Don't want to start a new postImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504147792.883171.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504147808.906440.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1504147821.680991.jpg

Hey Steve,

Awesome large cents, man I love finding them. I know silver coins are always high on the hunter's list (mine included) but there's something about finding the old coppers that's hugely satisfying. Love your running totals, especially your "slick coppers"...I feel your pain!

I look at it like once you're found enough large coppers, old silver is bound to appear, and this site alone has produced almost 1-1/2 dozen copper coins. Thanks for looking

If I only had a site that produced that! Most of mine might produce a 6 pack if I'm lucky, poor dirt farmers, just a sign of the times.
BTW that's one crisp looking coppa.
