A Break from the Cold

We finally got some decent weather with the temps. hitting the mid 40's. Ground was still pretty much frozen solid down 4" but the boy and I are still trying to figure out our new AT Pros so we went swinging.
Went back to the same little small patch at out new Colonial site where we can dig some plugs (chop) and not worry what our holes look like.
Hard to figure out a new machine when you can't dig but, we learned a little more and found a flat button each. It was nice not fighting the wind and cold but, still had to fight the snow and frozen ground. Can't wait for better weather and digging conditions.

Nice buttons!, that's how it's done, continuous use brings more knowledge, I can tell sometimes what I have w/o even looking at the #s, just the tones and how loud they are, the length of time I hear them etc.

Ha, you guys have the fever bad, I love it. Last winter I was running around detecting in the snow with a hammer and a hatchet. That one button I believe is for sure a 1700's button. Nice
I'm not the best at dating buttons, but I think both buttons are great finds. Can't wait until the thaw for you to hit that spot, there could be some old silver there no doubt.

We would need a large back hoe, a front loader, and a semi to haul the snow away in, just to get to the rock hard frozen ground to detect....but at some point in the future we hope to be able to detect and dig with out all the heavy equipment.

Thankfully snow is a great insulator and may have kept the ground less frozen than if it had not been covered. Here in North Jersey we have no hope. Still 6" of ice/snow and 5-6" frost layer beneath the ground. It'll be April 1st if were lucky.

Great finds and early one to boot. Keep hitting that area!

Here the ground was like concrete before the snow even came. I think it will be a long time yet before I get even a chance to go. Last year I hunted off and on the whole winter. Must be near two months now since I got out!

The weather man is calling for some warmer temps. over the next week or so. Looking at temps. in the 40's but , we could be seeing some rain too. Our new machines are water proof so the rain part might not be too bad. Lol
