A button question

MY daughter found this button in an old button jar. The front has an emblem, like a large urn with two angels holding it (one on each side). The inscription around the edge says "Ludovicus rex plures non capit orbis". The back has a small lozenge shaped mark. Does anyone know what this says or where it might be from?

But the Treasurenet site came up blank. And I can't figure out what the other guy is even saying! His jokes aside, what actually was his translation?

PJ; I wonder if the button and latin is in reference to "King Louis of California". The first translation might therefore apply,that is if I have remembered my Calif. history right.lol Fred

I don't know any latin except for the little bit that I have memorized(phrases). It just struck me that if the info was straight then the reference might have been to "King Louis of Cal.". Hopefully someone else can shed some light on ths. Fred

Searching on the internet for "Ludovicus rex..." I found your question on this forum. Today I allso found a 13 mm button with that same latin inscribstion. Do you allready know what it is, a button or something else, where it was made an for what reason? Please let me know.
I'm living in Hardenberg, the Netherlands.
