A cave I found

I came across this cave in the woods I have not been it so I don't know how big it is inside pretty neat find though!

I don't know if I could have kept myself from at least going in a ways. Could you see inside very far?

No I couldn't see very much it was fall time & I had no light & I was afraid there might be some snakes or something I didn't want to come face to face with!

That is exactly why I don't go into them in my area. Rattlesnakes and Copperheads here.

They say Mountain Lions are here but I haven't seen any prints. The only strange print I have found turned out to be a bear which wasn't good news to me.

to make damn sure it ain't already occupied before you go
crawling in there....

I don't know if the opening looks like a spot that people would have used, but you want know till you look deeper into the cave. Just remember all types of critters use holes like that year round, and I would check how stable those rocks are at the opening before going in. Good luck and HH.

I always throw a firecracker in the one on my farm........never found any critters in it yet. The place is full of crickets in the summer. Best to look in that one when its cold. I would also have a rope tied on as it looks to go down. And not do it alone.

I explore every one I find. Just go slow and take a rope. I have seen some with an entrance then it drops off some even cork screw down. Might open to a dry room though. If full of bat droppings be careful!

Rock, you got to be more like me. I was converted with two forty-fives by my side and baptized in a barrel of butcher knives. The stingers rawled iron whip can't mark my hide. A rattle snake bit me and that dirty mother crawled off and died. Lol! Bomb bim two time slim!!

Not sure if I would call this a "cave".

To me it more has the appearance of a collapsed ground cellar,,

Hard to tell,, but those "brick" looking stones lead me that way.

When I found my cave here in TN. I believe the opening at one time was larger then it is now. And I believe there's another cave opening that mother nature has covered up around the corner from the one I found. We all know the dangers of caving... but I'd have to dive on in (but that's me). As already said... watch the bat dropping if present. It only takes a small opening to open up into something real big!!! I live in a copperhead and rattlesnake heaven but I've never seen one in the cave I explore. Set a trail camera in front for awhile and use common sense thereafter. Have fun!!!! I would.
