a chert blade and a bone (rib) knife handle

I have about 8 or so knife handles, one had a metal blade in it
I have to find them and post them but for now here is a long knife handle and a blade
these were found in different spots and are not the specific blade for the handle

That is an interesting thing. I always imagined wooden handles for some reason.

There is a split rib knife (the name for that type of knife) in the collection of the University of Montana that came from out near Wolfpoint, MT that has a reworked Eden stuck lenth wise like that.

You are a fortunate man to have a great site to hunt, I have to cheat and go really far away to have adventures like that.

That's pretty neat there Larson ,... I've even have found a "plains-knife" [I.D. here @ T-net ] in Mobridge S.D. , I never thought of it being "hafted" in this maner . It all makes more sense to me now , after seeing you pic . The over-all look of that long handled knife there ,. to me anyway , looks like in the right hands they could de-bone a bison in no time !!

Larson, that is too cool for school. You can see that the rib bone has been seperated to fit a blade. I bet that the combo of the blade and the rib bone made for one fine tool for the Indian. Thanks for sharing
