I found this lead item a couple of days ago at a new permission. Can anyone identify it and or it's use ? Perhaps a lead ingot to be melted down ? Also can anyone identify the caliber and approximate age of this bullet ? Thanks all and happy hunting!

Hi; I agree that it is lead to melted down. Soldiers used to carry them in their knap sacks to make bullets in the field. Nice find. Don't know about the bullets ok. PEACE:RONB

You will need a precise diameter measurement of the bullet to figure out the caliber.

if you get me the dimensions i can look it up in 'civil war projectiles II' if it is civil war.

I am looking at one in the book now that looks similar, called the enfield-pritchett bullet. .55 caliber. again, get me the dimensions. u need calipers for that.
