A couple of what is it's and a what the heck

The 2 first pictures are of some sort of brass striker mechanism. If you look at the end opposite the round end, there are witness marks where this was hitting or striking something else. Found along side a river.

The next 2 seem to be part of a brooch or medal. Appear to be film reels on the convex surface. Again found by a river.

Last but not least (I had to throw this in) is a gopher or ground hog in a tree. Is this normal?? Must have been 10 feet up this little tree just swaying in the breeze.

We dont have groundhogs or porcupines here but looking at pics, I would have said porcupine also.

grizzled but no guard hairs on back of head = groundhog.

Sooo... if a ground hog is also a woodchuck, what is it when it gets hit by a car? :smileinbox:

Ground chuck!

...... and I think the first two items look like broken parts that go inside the tank of a flush toilet :dontknow:

The critter in the tree is definitely a varmint. :read2:

Not a very good photo, but this is a woodchuck up a small tree that my dad took in the mid 30's. I shoot chucks behind my house and chase porcupine away from my camp. That definitely is a woodchuck up a tree in the first photo. My daughter insists that it is a polar bear, but what does she know. She's only 20 years old.

I too have seen a woodchuck climb a tree, does not often happen, but it is possible.

Lucas, it would really depend on how long it had been on the road, but basically in NC, we would call it highway 'sun-dried' Spam! Ahhh, Southern living, nothing like it. :laughing7: :laughing7: LOL

Good ID BCH! :laughing7: Breezie
