I went back to the spot that PaleoJoe and I had started last week and dug today for about 3 hours. I was starting to get a little frustrated after the first hour as I had moved quite a bit of dirt and hadn't found the first piece. I then decided to change my strategy and I started digging the floor of the hole instead of the wall and I instantly starting finding things. Within three or four swipes I had a Bone Bead, a killer Bone Awl, and a nice little Drilled Tooth. I hit a dry spell again and moved over a few feet and found a really nice Stemmed Point and a Deer Antler tine that had been drilled out on the end for hafting and that was the end of the good finds. I did manage to find a few other broken points, a couple of Preforms, a broken Discoidal, and some Pottery pieces. All in all, I was happy with the days finds.

Pic 1. The days haul. For reference the Bone Awl is 4 1/8 inches long.

Pic 2. The Stemmed Point. It's kind of unusual to find this type on this site since the site is a Ft Ancient site and that point is more than likely an Adena type. I'd say it was found and either used by the later culture or was kept as good luck piece.

Pics 3, 4. Both sides of the killer Bone Awl. This is one on the better Awls I have from this site. It is highly polished from end to end and has a nice needle tip. When I first found it I thought it was damaged on the side close to the base, but it's ground really smooth inside that indention and was evidently done that way on purpose.

Pic 5. This is the little Drilled Tooth. I was surprised I even saw this one it's so small. A very nice tooth though with no damage at all.

Pic 6. The Bone Bead. Both ends are a little boogered up, but still a decent Bead

Pics 7, 8. The Deer Antler Tine that was drilled for hafting. It's either the start of an arrowpoint or it's flaking tool.

Nice Knife Joe. Unusual type for that site. That Triangle would have been a killer. Let me know if you do any good Friday.

Have you ever seen a madison/triangle with slightly notched corners?
Also found one that has a twist to it.
