I had requests to see some of my bottles and will be posting some more over the next few weeks. The first two are 1880's - 1890's bottles. Both had high alcohol content and had claims of helping or curing aliments. The green bottle is a Samuel Duffield bottle from the 1860's and is the predecessor of the Parke-Davis co. The bitters bottle is from the 1870's and is considered a western bitter but was made in the east. It's 12" tall and the black stuff on the neck is whats left of the original foil. I hope you like seeing them.

Nice! I love old bottles and dump digging, old crawlspaces are my favorite place to look. I have a Warner's safe cure, don't think I have ever seen the "nervine", awesome! Keep 'em coming!

Thank's for the comments. All of the bottles that I post were found in Michigan and actually in my home town. I'm as passionate about bottle hunting as I am metal detecting. I have been bottle hunting for the last 20 years and have well over 1000 hours put behind it. I found a crier today it was an 1890's soda with embossing on it from Saginaw with the top broke off. I'm going tomarrow to see what I can dig up. If I find anything good I'll post it. Good luck hunting.

Thanks for (finally) posting MW. :hello2: I love the brown ones. The "nervine" bottle has a picture of a safe on it? :icon_scratch:

Keep posting!

Warner's trademark was the safe. It was good advertising because you would see the big embossed safe and feel all warm and fuzzy inside knowing it was safe to use. Waner's made a safe cure, kidney and liver cure, diabetes cure and then safe remedies. I think the remedies was the latest one because the government made companies stop claiming to cure aliments unless they were proven to do so.
P.S. Nervine was a tonic to sooth the nerves. Of course it soothed the nerves because it had so much alcohol in it. :)
