Hello everyone. I made it out to the fort for a few hours today and had a great time.
I always go out looking for a button so I wasn’t to surprised to find one. The surprise came when I brushed the surface off. It looks to be a civil war era general service button. I don’t imagine there are too many of these at an 1830s era fort. Although the union did enter the town in 1864 and burned a few buildings and a very small skirmish took place.
Just after that I got a good but deep signal and pulled out this lead thing a ma jig. A closer inspection reveals some letters near an edge. Not sure if it’s a lead seal or something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I’ve included a front and back photo.
I also found a couple wheat backs and a couple other things including the period brass nail.
Thank you for looking and happy hunting to all
