While working for Halliburton in the oilfield industry a long long time ago, I got to spend a lot of time along the Red river north of Bossier La. I had got to know a lot of the locals and we started hunting rocks on the time off we had . I found this heart breaker along the Red river, at the time I thought it was broken from a long time rolling in the Red river because it does show some damage from that, but now I believe it was broken during the time it was being made. It is made from a high grade of Edwards flint. Also now that I have learned more on Clovis sites there are a good number in that area and even more to the west along the La. and Tx. state line all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. I don't get this one out much but thought some of you might like to see it. clovis red river 1.webpclovis red river.webpclovis red river 3.webp

man that is a true heartbreaker but still it is a killer it looks kind of like a folsom

Now that is what a true Clovis looks like. Well used, abused, and with lots of character. Awesome piece monster. Glad you decided to share that with us.

 That sure would have been a beautiful point.

Man what a gorgeous point ..... The fluting on both sides is a
Amazing I like the material used too..... Thanks for showing

wow very nice

It's really a gem of a find

You don’t get this one out much??

Great Paleo find regardless of condition. If it was in my collection it would be a priority display piece taking precedence over many of my complete displayable projectiles or knives from the archaic or later time periods.

Wow that is a beauty. It's still a beast even when its broken!! Nice save!!!

Fine point. Thanks for sharing it with us, Monster.

It's a beauty! I love the color and yes it would be a great piece for the center of a frame! Thanks for sharing it with us!

Broken or not that is just stunning! What a find!

Everyones dream find, thanks for sharing.

Exciting find, I beat it got the heart pumping

Man o man, that is a cool piece!

One side does look like it wasn't quite finished (first picture with the longer flute) but the second one almost makes it look rebased to me. Picture a 7 inch Clovis knife that broke in half, they kept the flute on one side (your second pic), and refluted the first side.

Joshua you may be very correct about this blade. I have been doing some reading on the Ready site in Jersey Co. Il. and some of the points from this site were made that way. I mean why waste a perfect good blade just because it broke in half. Very good eye you have.:notworthy:

Wow....still an awessome point even as a partial.
Congrats!!!
