A GOOD DAY DIVING THE 1715 FLEET!!!

Apolla, can anyone give the details of the find? Not location, but the narrative of diving down, using the detector (or were they in plain view as Mel saw on the Nieves), reaction once they saw the coins, etc...

Congrats, Greg and crew. Awesome job.

Greg - you are an inspiration to the rest of us --

Congratulations!

Now that is a GOOD day at the office!

I tip my hat to you guys!

And it looks like you are working right on the beach as well!
Your anchor watch has a bigger belly than me or
he is taking a leak!

LOL...

GOHO, you are living the dream. I bet you got a good looking girl friend and

if you don't you will with all that treasure. Congratulations.

That looks like the life.

Congrat's on your find, wishing all the best in the future dives. :icon_thumright:

Amazing!! :o :o !!
Congrats On All That Booty :icon_pirat:
HH!!

Totally AWESOME! Congratulations, Breezie :headbang:

Greg, you sure lit up TreasureNet!

That's a Mega-Banner. You must be pro treasure hunters. Here it's off legal limits.

I see a pretty old Santa Fe De Bogota 2E in the video, and a lot of them are Charles II 2E from SFDB around 1700-1710. I saw one that was either a Lima or Cuzco 2E with pillars. That is probably the 1698 dated one.

One of the things mentioned in the Florida Gold Coin collection book is that they had a hard time figureing out which wrecks some of the older gold cobs in their collection came from: if they were 1715, or from another wreck. Seems they didn't keep the best of records on some of their aquisitions.

GOHO - Would you recommend the Aquapulse metal detector then? I notice you have one attached to you in one of the photos...

Thanks everyone for the congrats, But i have to mention that without my crew and my investors I wouldn't be out there finding this stuff..

All the treasure found by my company GOLD HOUND will be divided 50/50 with the new owners of the 1715 fleet after the state of Florida receives their donation of 20%.

The only detector i use when i'm diving the fleet is an Aqua-Pulse. Nothing else can come close to the depth of this detector. I am also a dealer for them along with Bill Seliger of EO industries if your interested in purchasing one...

The 22 gold coins were scattered in a small area under the Swivel Gun... I had to chisel some of them out of cracks on the bottom but i have to say it was a real thrill diving and every hit i got on the detector was a gold coin...

Thanks again to my friends on Tnet for all the kind words... I will keep you posted on any new finds...

Aquascan International, manufacturers of the Aquapulse, are currently developing a method of "keyhole surgery", whereby a detector coil can be easily pushed through sand and soft sediment to depths of 2 or more metres. The product is called a "jet probe".
Should allow better detection before having to dig down.

Wow, love seeing these dive photos. More, more! Don't forget to give us some close ups of everything when your done. Go back and get some more. Thanks for sharing.

Brian

GOHO,
I had to comeback and look again...wow. Congrats.

In the news story I saw the guy on the beach searching the dry sand. When you guys make a find so close to shore do you take some time to search on the dry sand or just leave that for the local metal detectorist?

I hope to find a gold coin one day...I might actually have a heart attack if I found 22...lol.

Best of luck for the rest of this season. Look forward to seeing future finds.
