Relic Hunting
While we wait for hay to be cut on some CW sites & pasture to be clipped, I went up the road to an Indian camp. My neighbors have not deep plowed that field for several years & we have had nearly 3 in. of rain the last couple of days so the flint showed up well. It was about 60 deg. with a 15-20 MPH North wind. I even had on a hoodie & it felt good. I found 5 or 6 scrapers, the usual broken points, and the grey point is complete. There was a big Indian settlement there on the Cumberland River.
I sent American Digger Magazine an article on Native American relics yesterday that they wanted and I guess writing the article just gave me the bug. You know what I mean. HH, Quindy.

You and your son have been posting some awesome native artfacts Quimby ! I have yet to find an even an arrow head ! Other people find them up here but I have not come across one yet ! Keep it up with the sharp eyes ! I love to see them ! MaineRelic

I have never found an arrowhead in my whole life. I really want to find one. Maybe now that I'm in Kentucky I'll get lucky. I also want to find a geode. Im pretty new at all this but I have my eyes to the ground always.
Nice finds. HH ;)

Thanks MR. If you can't hunt CWrelics, go for Indian artifacts. HH, Q.

HM6, KY is full of good places to find artifacts along the rivers. I picked up a small geode in the pic yesterday in the Indian village. If you break this style, they have a crystalline interior. My article to be published in AD talks about taking being to find relics & artifacts for granted. Hope you find some, Quindy.

Nothing keeps you down. First CW relics, and now Indian artifacts. What's next, dinosaur bones? :dontknow:
Sweet finds buddy.
Great job on Monday's Relic Roundup.

Well done with the artifacts, it's always good after a rain.

Getting the best of both worlds. I go artifact hunting and end up metal detecting and visa versa. Look forward to reading your article you have found some nice things.

It seems it all just goes hand in hand, doesn't it? Getting out and enjoying the outdoors is time well spent, no matter how it is done. Nice finds, Mr. Q!

Thanks MM. As to Relic Roundup, my favorite part was when I told the audience that you were in Indiana at that time and either in jail or at a casino-LOL. HH, Q.

Thatnks Pepper. We sure had enough to wash the flint off. Had to get with it as they will drill corn this week. HH, Q.

Thanks for your help on the point i.d Richard. That's definitely a Woodland period village. The last time I hunted the Picket camp 2 weeks ago, a flint scraper came out of the same hole as a CW .54 bullet. That is the best of both worlds. HH, Q.

Hunting artifacts was fun OD but the cold north wind was more like March than the middle of May. Take care & HH Bud, Q.

He should be able to find dinosaur bones because he was around when they walked the earth. LOL
