Another year has passed
And we're all a little older.
Last summer felt hotter
And winter seems much colder.

I rack my brain for happy thoughts,
To put down on my pad,
But lots of things, That come to mind
Just make me kind of sad.

There was a time not long ago
When life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand
About 'Living in the Past'

We used to go to friends homes,
Baseball games and lunches.
Now we go to therapy, to hospitals,
And after-funeral brunches.

We used to have hangovers,
From parties that were gay.
Now we suffer body aches
And sleep the night away.

We used to go out dining,
And couldn't get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags,
Come home and take a pill.

We used to travel often
To places near and far.
Now we get backaches
From riding in the car.

We used to go out shopping
For new clothing at the Mall
But, now we never bother...
All the sizes are too small.

That, my friend is how life is,
And now my tale is told.
So, enjoy each day and live it up...
Before you're too darn old!!

I think...

No matter how old YOU may feel,
you should never pass up the opportunity
to be part of someone else's "Good old days".

:)

I guess this would be a bad time to ask you if you got all the glue from the tape off, huh? :tongue3: ;D

me~ :-*

We have the first President in my life that's younger than me. Hopefully that's a good thing. Baby boomers are the bane of civilization and all things Americana.

you are only as old as you think you are.

my wife tells me I act like a kid sometimes.

so I quess I'm not old yet. :D

I remember seeing the comic strip "For Better or For Worse" one day many years ago. It was winter and the kids in the strip were out playing in the snow, building forts, having a snowball fight with their Dad and when they came in cold and shivering their Mom had hot cocoa and blankets and they sat snuggled by the fire until bedtime. The strip was wordless until the last frame when one of the kids said "You know, when we're older, we'll look back and remember today as one of 'the good old days.'"

Hello warsawdaddy. This is a good poem. Some of those verses sure ring a bell with me. LOL. I got a kick out of this one.
Thanks for sharing.

Immy. The kid sure made an acurate prediction, didn't he? That is funny. A very good addition to the post.
