Hello all, had that itch to get outta the house and see if I could find a bottle or two in January. It’s usually knee deep in snow here and rarely get out this time of year to hunt. But it’s a balmy 44 degrees and these old bones just had to hit some dirt. I feel like a little kid most of the time I’m out digging. It’s the aftermath of sore muscles and back aches that hit ya the next day. Oh well, you only live once right. Lol.

So it took a bit of probing to locate this one. Started at an area where I thought there would be a high percent of having the privy. I was wrong. Up and down the yard. Back and forth. I swear I probed 300 times. All the way around and I was near to wiped out and close to calling it quits. Low and behold I came back around to within 5 feet of where I started and there it was. Under some garage pad. I barely felt it and had to dig a test hole to confirm it.

So I was on my own on this one and it’s a 7 footer. I had a buddy that was working in the area check on me so that was good. Got down about 5 feet and finally saw some older lamp parts. Then some broken plates and a broken chamber pot. Finally found a whole slick and several at that. Nothing great but what the heck, I was digging in January.

Another couple feet down and I saw a cool little casket flask. Half pint. It’s a slick but still cool in the bottom of the hole. One cobalt crier was close by and more broken pieces of plateware. I then started seeing some older Hinge mold pieces. A Godfrey’s Cordial and an R. Sellers cough syrup. Several Gilbert’s Pain Destroyers too. Man I have a ton of those. All in all it was pretty scarce but I enjoyed it. Brought a couple things home and now back to house work when the snow and cold returns tomorrow. Enjoy it out there folks. Ya only go around this rock once remember. Be safe as always. Until next time happy hunting. Jgas.
