It appears to be a Continental Army artillery officers coat button, from what I can find. Rare find indeed!

Another look at the back...the loop looks a bit off. This may be a cast reproduction, IMHO. I hope it's authentic original.

That's what I was thinking, too.

Does it have any lettering at all on the back?

How about AY 2 Rp2 on page 46 in Albert's book? Rp1, Rp2, Rp3 cast pewter reproduction, 1970s, Blank back 25, 24, 20mm. These are reproductions of AY 1 which had a union jack where the stars of the US flag would be.

You guys are awesome thanks. I talked to a neighbor yesterday who knows the history of this area and he said people used to do big scale role playing games around there so I’m thinking mystery solved. Reproduction it is but still very cool. Thanks all. :notworthy:
