well I'm on page 200 of this book. I don't see any obvious clues for the biggest box. Some interesting info:
from net:
He invested $50,000 in Bitcoin at $125 (400 bitcoins assumed) - a single bitcoin is now worth more than $100,000.
That's 40 million if my math is correct but there's no telling if and when he sold them.
from book:
There is an active emerald mine not too far from where he lived. It appears that was Statesville, NC where his dad ran a church. Mount Wilson Observatory is located just to Northeast and not far from his childhood home.

"Clues for the Appalachian Footpath box are found in its dedicated chapter. It includes a map - which shows a path. The trail shown below has been found to exactly match the one in the book. It is in Vermont."

well I finished the book. Here some more possible clues to the 4 smaller boxes hidden around the country.
1st Forrest Fenn box - he mentions Rocky Mountains north of Santa Fe and another obscure Poem that will lead you to the box. Sound familiar?
2nd Pokémon box - he mentions trip as a kid to Houston, TX headed SW through New Orleans, and then back past Ozarks. Then goes into Pokémon characters and dialog which is all Greek to me. I was busy coding on mainframes and writing Online systems during this Pokémon phase hay day. I never got into any of these games, so there's that.
There is a colorized photo (purple) that shows high rocks on one side and a small creek , and then flat boulders that the creek flows around. You could walk on these I suppose but if they have green algae will be slippery as ice. Don't imagine that is part of this hunt at all.
3rd Past and Future box - he mentions California where he lives in or outside of LA but has a WORD Search puzzle and a short cryptogram (4 lines) with all necessary clues to find this box. I see the word 'SAPPHIRE' at the bottom right.
4th Appalachian Foot path box - he mentions trail into White Mountains and where trail traverses through Blue ridge mountains near Asheville, NC. He has close access to this area as a kid. He has a map he drew, that one clue site (see above post) says it is exactly like trail between Green mountain and Homer Stone Mountain.
On one side of map is dog (dog park?) and then a circle with a tree inside. And the custom made commemorative coin inside this box shows a clock hand or arrow that points to roughly 4:00 on a watch dial - where arrow penetrates a small circle. Does this reference the small circle with tree on map and direction to head to find box? Lastly this box has a blue steel front side. Does this hint to Blue ridge mountains point already mentioned above?
Hopefully, this info will help anyone who is close enough and wants to
try to locate one of these boxes. Give me a shout out here if any of this helps you on finding a box. I am past looking for such treasures.

p.s. Author makes very clear that no dangerous place or trek will find these boxes. Nor under water, nor high rock cliff etc. He wanted no deaths like the Forrest Fenn treasure sadly produced. A word to the wise is sufficient!

I think as JCB goes about making blog appearances, and people get more desperate for more clues to solve his puzzles leading to treasure boxes, he could find himself in a similar situation as Brian in this famous scene. Here, Brian loses a scandal running from people who mistake him for the Messiah and this is definitely a sign! What's funny to him now may not be so funny as time goes on and treasure boxes remain undiscovered.

I believe the treasures are real. I drove 22 hours from round trip from NY just to check a spot in TN. I may return if I get any more solves. Hopefully the lions share is in the northeast!

This is what's wrong with these treasure hunts. They give people the very slim hope they'll get rich, but they'll all end up losing money in the end. Not right...

The thing that turned me off about this was that someone may have found one or more and there’s non way to know. As I posted above, I looked for one. When I went to a very remote area, I saw signs that others had been there, but there’s no way of knowing if it was found. JCB just said that he left incentive for them to report it but it’s not required.

I've been waiting for results..
I'm not much of a map Dowser, but I did get Dowsing anomaly responses with my L-rods over an Atlas, and posted state to treasure location on here.
I'm curious if any or all are correct.
I would be surprised if any were, but I'm not ruling it out.. Something signaled..
