Oldmxrat I think location, a good detector that you have ALOT of hours on, luck and most important a strong mental game. Like the times that you have no honey hole but still get dressed, walk out of a air conditioned house into this wet humid air 92° at 10am where you’re already sweating from the house to the truck. Oh yeah AND your detecting parter has work so it’s ALL on you ugggh. So the battle begins right there the hour trip there thinking great things and staying positive. Now you’re there, again out the air conditioning and going at it. After 10 minutes of trash, sweating bad in this Louisiana heat and you’re battling with yourself every minute not to just get back in that truck and go home, but for some crazy reason you keep going “one more hole”. You see half of my brain is selling b@llshit and the other half wants to by it, but you block it out because hey let’s face it I drove 60 miles in a V8 at $2.87 a gallon with a $5 toll (at times or this I like going far” it works. So I go at it and I go hard for 3 to 4 hours. if I don’t find anything I still won the battle in my head and then I do it all over again. I also lie to myself and set high goals.
I haven’t found a American Silver dollar but I have been blessed to have found 3 8 Reales under my belt all from different sites so that wholes me over.for high silver. I’ve only gotten three coppers which I was starting to believe we didn’t have any out this way alot more Spanish silver. Speaking of England my grandfather was from Wales I think it’s in my blood. May God Bless is all and take a break to look at what we do have and appreciate it This hobby has brought so much joy in my life I took to it 6 years ago and I wish it was sooner. Being clean and sober for 16 years and telling the casinos not to let me in I detect just like I did in my passed I GO HARD and yes I am addicted. 🙏🏻That's the right attitude Truth that will win the race.
Yet after 50+yrs in the game I've yet to dig a silver dollar.
I have a gold coin under the belt, from England, but never one on this side of the pond.
Do I expect one-never really a thought when I'm out and about digging in the dirt.
Strange as it is-things appear when least expecting them.
Countless times I expect something-yet it turns out to be nothing.
Yet the quest and the passion runs deep-the outside world gets shut off totally-the thoughts and dreams of what it could be, come alive.
That alone is treasure to me.
