A New One for me ... Beer!

Went detecting in the woods below a logging road and above a creek which used to be worked for gold in the 1800's.

A complete pick axe was a nice find. Lots of times, at least one of the ends is broken off.

Surprise find was a bottle of beer that still had the cap on and it appears to still be carbonated. Looks like it's from 1974. I'll be inviting some of my detecting buddies over to celebrate. I'm sure 43 year old beer that's been sitting on the forest floor all this time is going to taste great!!

Yea .. Blitz beer. Hasn't been produced since early 80's. Appropriate name for a beer don't you think??

It rings up at around $2.50 a bottle here, but I think he should discount that one a little ! What a find. It would make a nice display piece.

I heard down along the Susquehanna in PA was a wild bar scene back in the day with the loggers....Good place to get in a fight mostly, is what I was told.

So a logger bought two Blitz beers in 1974 because they were cheap and he could afford two beers instead of his usual one. He thought he had made a great decision until he took a swig out of the first one. It was so disgusting that he threw the unopened one as far into the woods as he could. I suggest you drink it to test my theory. If it is tasty, I must be on the wrong track. Please get back to me with your findings.
