A "Newer" Pocket Spill

KKC got out last Sunday and I dug these four coins in the same hole: two fatty Indians, a thinny Indian, and a Flying Eagle cent. This is not what I usually post, but I'll take them. :icon_sunny: The most promising find of the day was the pewter 1700s spoon bowl, which always proves that something Colonial is nearby.

I can feel a Colonial copper coming this weekend. My Colonial bones are itching for one.

Keep the passion high!

Kirk

I'm glad you posted these Kirk. I've always told you we need to appreciate everything we find even if it's not particularly the era we are searching for. I would love to have found that pocket spill.

For sure. The bad days I just think of what I have found, and the better times out, and know the digging will be good at some point again.

Re: A "Newer" Pocket Spill

You know, that's a lot of variety in a cent pocket spill. Only thing better would've been if one of those fatties was a LC.

But at least you didn't have to track all those small cents down individually. :)

And yes, that spoon bowl is a Great sign that you guys are on the right track. In my hunt today, there were few signs--very little iron (in fact, just iron "blips"--nothing diggable). I almost felt like I was hunting a PA site instead of my usual, 150-year-old scrap yards. :P

Those are good finds. Thank you for sharing them with all of us.

Your uncle speaks truth, Kirk.

Those flying eagles are pretty tough to find. The smallness of those copper discs makes them more elusive than the LC's. Actually, when you consider the rarity of FE's compared to how many years they made LC's, it's amazing they get found.

You guys are doing great.

The spoon is definitely encouraging.

Happy tectin'.
