Hey Guys, this week was pretty good! I got a call from a friend of mine, Mike Post, and he wanted to come and dig for a couple of days so of course I told him to come on out and we spent a couple days digging at a couple sites of mine.
The first day we got out to a spot of mine that has produced alot of nice colonial and civil war relics over the years. We started off the day when Mike dug a very pretty child's "whizzer" from the colonial housesite. Soon after that I dug a convex 1 piece button along with a couple of Minieballs. We worked our way to a little hotspot where I've dug a bunch of stuff and soon after getting there I locked on to a perfect "86" signal....It was NOT moving, so I dug down and this is what was hiding:
I knew that it was going to be a copper but what kind? I dug down about 8-9 inches before I was to get my answer, out popped a nice Copper. You can always tell those Virginia Halfpennies...the Shield on the Coat of Arms is Always slightly visible!
We went to another site the next day and got permission, I dug a counterfeit silver shilling, a few flatties and this:
an absolutely gorgeous Ornate 1600's Double Oval Buckle. I look forward to getting back out to this site before long![/size]
