I've seen this old worn down vacant brick home near the old fields that I've been working and this week noticed that all of the sudden the grass was mowed and bushes and overgrowth had been cut and cleaned up so I stopped and asked the nearby farmer who owns the field what he knew about it. Well, it belongs to him :icon_thumleft: . . . so I got the go ahead!

So I hit it with high hopes of digging some silver coins! Well, NO COINS WHAT SO EVER :BangHead: Clearly had been done before but then I got two silver plated large spoons (not shown) that couldn't have been missed by any detector so I'm thinking awsome there's still coins here!

I got no coins but had a bouncy signal but repeatingly a decent tone so I dug 6 inches to recover a real nice silver thimble (size 6) and I got my silver :occasion14: . . . thanks for looking!

A very nice piece!

Funny, with all the holes I've dug over the many years, none of them have ever held a thimble. Wonder why. :dontknow:

Thanks for sharing.

HH!

I'd take that silver thimble in my pouch any day over a silver coin.....good score.

Regards + HH

That's a beautiful thimble....congrats! I dug my first thimble this summer too....it was also silver :) Much nicer than a silver coin, that's for sure.

Thanks! Any thimbles I typically get are copper in the corn fields and are all bent and flattened. This is my first silver thimble in 11yrs of detecting.

VERY NICE !! indeed, like others I'd take that over any common dated coin.
I guess I live in the poor part of town, found many thimbles, but like VPR no silver yet.

That is a nice thimble. Nothing wrong with that. :icon_thumright:
I have hunted old homes and found no coins either.
Some people did not lose many...sometimes they are in tough soil too ;).

Beautiful find! It took me well over a decade of digging to find my first silver thimble. Great find, and in FANTASTIC condition too!

Cheers,

Buck

thats awesome its in such good shape that is number 1 on my want list congrats:headbang:

That was definitely missed when it was lost. I'm glad it's now found so everyone can admire it's beauty.

Beautiful thimble! Someday i'll dig one too....

Thimbles are cool...especially a silver one. Congrats...still on my list as well.

cool find, I found one this summer too and it was also a number 6! looks like a lot of yard to work, definitely get back there and do some gridding in different directions!

Love IT! I have only found one silver and not that nice.

what a nice find ! :icon_thumleft:
