A real mystery here!

I found this item today at my Union camp in west central Mississippi.
Any ideas? I've never seen anything like this before. Thanks for any assistance.

That's certainly a possibility.

Looks almost like a thin bladed utility knife. I don't know much about how the old cannons crews worked but maybe it was used to cut fuse Another item for me to research.
