Got out early this morning to try a field near an old mill. Used a variety of settings on the Deus: Gary's Hot and Cold, stock Deus Fast, and an All Purpose w/discrimination at 50. Gave up after a couple hours in the rain having found a couple fishing weights, a ca.1750 flat button, 1861 5 Cent piece, another spoon bowl (thats five in this small field) and my first ever pewter fragment. Of course I also found lots of random cans, tomato paste tube tops and bits of aluminum. I never know what I'm not finding and if its because of my skill, detector settings, location or what..

Deus fast, stock program works just fine as a all round starting point. You will miss next to nothing as long as you grid & dig everything over 10. The only disadvantage is its not the deepest program. However, on busy sites it best to clear as much as you can & then change to the deeper programs.
