Was told today that this would be my last order of 4 boxes of halves bi-weekly. They just aren't willing to get them anymore. She said, "it's too expensive," but who knows, maybe they just got sick of lugging them. I feel like this is only the beginning.

Might start trying to do less volume per bank and split the orders up. As someone pointed out most branches can only order $5k in coins a week so you might be taking too healthy a chunk out for thier liking.

2 boxes per bank per order seems to be the comfort level for most banks I go to. Make sure to give them plenty of pleasantries and the occasional sweet treats here and there. Also, I always speak with the vault tellers and tell them that if it were ever an issue with the volume I am doing, they can reduce and/or stop my orders at any time. I am in a big city with lots of banks to choose from, so I understand how not everybody has that option.

Pleasantries and pastries get you very far in this hobby.

Report them to the BBB and CFPB.

As of now, I have downgraded to just a box of dimes. Still getting a box a week somewhere else. The thing is, when I first started getting them they said I couldn't get 1 box, I'd have to get at least 4. It may have been the teller trying to scare me off and I just called her bluff. In any event, the last 12 boxes were skunks and I can still dump there all I want. Something else will come around.

Don't forget to look up your elected state and federal representatives. I believe they love getting involved in these sort of injustices.

If you were dumping while picking up at the same branch, we may know why they cut you off.

I took it to mean he was picking up there only, but could convert it to a dump bank, which is what I'd do if they cut me off. If he was picking and dumping at the same bank, then yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly.

It might be worth your while to talk with the vault teller, explaining to her that you were told you had to order a minimum of 4, but that you would be happy with less. This might enable you to continue picking up there.

Yup, it has been seven days. Everybody reset the "Call The Fed" clock now.

I dump there into a coinstar. They don't care about that. And it was the vault teller who told me I had to get 4. It is all good. I think they would order for me again in the future if I wanted, maybe a box here and there. I have a good relationship with everyone there.

If a branch does not have a Coinstar (and none of mine do), I would never order boxes of coins from there and dump there. Aside from searching my own dumps (which I'm probably doing anyway given all the talk on this forum about the banks and couriers sharing coin sources), I imagine that the people in the branch would quickly be annoyed with dealing with my coin orders and my coin deposits

Why would you not pick up and dump if they have a coinstar? It is a credit union and the coinstar is a 3rd party. I have seen the guy come and pick up the full buckets from the coinstar and haul them off. There is no way I am getting my own dumps back. They were not annoyed by my hobby but intrigued. The vault teller insisted I sell her back $10 worth of halves each week because she thought they were cool. Looks like the only responses I am getting are negative and aren't really addressing what my post was about. The fact is they stopped doing it because it costs something to do and there is nothing in it for them. With rising fuel prices and everyone moving away from using physical money, I can't see people wanting to haul around halves for people for apparently no good reason forever. Anyway, thanks for trying to blame it all on what must have been horrible CRH practice by me. Picking up a box later today, will post results. HH!

The reality is that we CRH'ers are a negative asset to their retail business. Even if you have $50k in your account, you're still costing them money if you do enough volume.

I lost one of my pickup banks this week as well, two actually. Sucks, but I will replace them and move on, it's not the end of the world.

Hey, just trying to point out a potential reason why. Even if they don't deal with the coinstar, if your dumps make it fill that much faster, you may create unwanted stress on them.

*cough*

I have found out that if the tellers weighs less than 100 lbs and shorter than 5'2", l most likely end up losing the bank.
