I had very little time tonight; maybe an hour, but I hit a spot in the woods just to give it a try and see what may be hidden below.
Within about 4 minutes I got a nice signal and dug up this:
At first, I was thinking silver but as soon as I pulled it from the hole I knew it wasn't. It feels like thin stainless. Oh well; maybe next time.
It has about a 1", pointed screw coming out of the back and a backing attached by the screw. It definitely screws into something. The backing seems to be made out of some kind of wood or composite material. I'm amazed it's still intact.
I think it may be the front piece of a drawer knob/handle off of some type of furniture. That's my best guess anyway. It looks kinda' cool. It may even be old, I don't know. It was about 5 inches down. Any help on the ID is appreciated of course.
Other than that, I just found a few pennies, a dime and another busted key (not pictured); nothing old, nothing noteworthy.
Before I knew it, it was dark and I was making my way out of the woods with the help of my modified Cen-Tech Pinpointers' built in LED light. That thing actually works VERY well. I was glad to have it tonight. Since modifying it, it's actually working really great.
It gets REALLY dark when you're away from everything back in the woods this time of year. It was nice and peaceful too. I saw no one the entire time except for a Beaver, a Blue Heron and a few other birds.
But, it was really enjoyable getting out and swinging for a little while during these last, short summer days regardless of the slim pickin's.
That's it folks.
Thanks for lookin' and HH.
