Out in the woods in Bel Air, MD this evening and dug a number of relics that included a small cuff button, two fired roundballs, a padlock latch with crown, W.S., and "PATENT" on it, and this copper/brass decorative piece that has holes in the top, side and base. The carving on it is extremely detailed and parts of it show the remains of gilding. My first impression was that it is a finial but I am not certain.

Brotha what a interesting hunt. I really love that little brass/copper decorative piece. I would definitely have to make room for it in my main shelf. I like the color, shape, little bit of gilt. Perfect [emoji1360]

Yes, a little bit of all the things I like to dig. There is a possibility that the decorative brass piece is a sword pommel.

Agree. Does look like a sword pommel. Nice finds!

That is freakin cool you are doing great keep it up I like seeing your posts and all the cool finds. Tommy

Thanks Tommy! Got out tonight after an early dinner because next week and the weekend following will leave zero time for detecting.

Thanks Aureus! I will edit post with any update on the "possible" pommel.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Wow....they are so neat and pretty.

Nice finds. The woods is giving up her secrets to you. Well Done.

Congrats on the nice relics and sweet lady silver! :occasion14:

Thanks Jamie. Did the woods for awhile and then decided I'd stop dodging the spiders, poison ivy and trees and hit the sports field edges, that's when I got the dime, cattle tag, musket balls, and padlock keyhole cover.

Thanks Professor! Yes, the Equinox does not lie. That "sweet tone" ringing up consistently in the 30s sure seemed like silver, and it was.

Thanks Randy! Good late day hunt and only a few bug bites to show for it.

Yep, somebody liked those cattle from Virginia :)

Nice hunt, the Pommel? is a very cool recovery, nice button & padlock plate is extra nice, great silver, congrats on all & HH

Thanks Inspector! I am in total agreement. In the realm of relics, that pommel is my best find.

I hope you find something definitive on the "pommel," but regardless, that is a beautiful little object. Well done!
