A Wet, Sticky Snow

Greetings, Yesterday the ground was all bare of snow except for a few piles here and there where it had been
piled up from shoveling or plowing. When we woke up this morning we had about 4 - 5 inches of wet, heavy
snow. The temp was about 34 degrees during most of the storm so it was sticking to everything. The tree
branches are bending way down with the weight of the snow sticking on them. I went out and took a few pics
but am having trouble getting them on the computer, The socket in the computer that takes the cord from
the camera is messed up so I only got one pic transferred. We will soon be getting another computer so I
will let it go until we get the other one.

Here is the one that transferred ok. It shows where the bare clothes line comes out from under the eaves and
is exposed to the snow. It shows the snow sticking to the line in about a 3 inch diameter.

Luckily we get the dry snow up here. Go out and walk around in it and don't come in soakin wet. From now til May it will be a little wetter though.

Wow Ray, that is sticky stuff, the snow we get here is governed by the North Sea, temps and such. It can be dry or wet, the wet stuff is the bad kind, especially if it freezes after . I can't wait till I see the rest of your pics, nice one mate

Musta been the same storm that SLAMMED us over here in northern WI - we got around 15" of WET, STICKY, too-heavy-to-push-with-my-Grand-Wagoneer-snowplow white stuff ! Got 4 foot drifts and all.
Tuesday the grand-daughter was saying how the grass is starting to turn green !
Grass ? What grass ?

hello, RGINN, Yup, I imagine up in those mountains where you live it would be colder and much dryer air, which
makes for much better snow. Not much good for kids who want to make a snowman but better in every other
way. LOL. Thanks for your reply.

Hi, Ian, With the North Sea there, and depending how close you live to it, you probably get a lot of what we call
'lake effect' snow. Today is cloudy and only occasional bright sun. and it is getting windy now and that will bring
down a lot of branches and power lines. There were several areas around here without power yesterday because
of the wet heavy snow. We were lucky and didn't lose ours. A quarter mile down the road there were several
places the other way that lost it. I was out for a while this morning and there are branches down all over the
place. It sure was pretty driving, though with so much snow on all the trees and everything else. Thank you
for you response.

Hello, Diggem, I think you are right, because it came in from the west. Temps are in the mid 20's today and
everything is a mess with the snow frozen solid. Any shoveling or plowing that didn't get done yesterday is
awful doing today. Luckily I did mine right after daylight yesterday Thanks for your good reply.

Looks like what we got here on the 22nd to 23rd. Seven inches here in Bismarck, ND. The snow was melting and I actually went out for the first time on the 19th. I am getting sick of the snow; it looks nice, but finding some silver would look nicer.

Yup. Official total in Green Bay was 17+ inches. Tried pushing the crud around with the wagoneer some today - greasy & heavy, lots of sliding sideways. Blade wouldn't even cut down into it much. Packed more than I pushed. Coulda moved it with the tractor bucket, but that's almost like WORK. Guess its gonna be right where it is til old Sol melts it away. :-)

mustugio11, Yup, I agree about preferring to find silver that looking at snow-covered ground. Did you find anything
good when you were out on the 19th? For the next week or so, around here it is only going to go into the low to mid
30's during dautime and the teens to mid 20's during the nights so it will be a while before this white stuff is all gone.

Hi Mike, yes you're right. Thanks for the encouragement. LOL. And the sooner, the better. LOL. A few days ago it
looked the ground would be thawing soon out to make it ok for digging. Then we had to get all that slush. As frozen
as it is now, it will take several days to melt out of the way with the low temps that are forecasted for the next week.

Hello, Diggem, That is quite a bit. With these cold temps on that slush, it would be very tough trying to clean it away.
The sun seemed to have some heat in it but the temp only went up to 28 degrees so all that slush is froze pretty hard.
