We had some much needed rain today so only had a couple of hours out this afternoon… the lead objects today were small! 😆 very cute loop with lead strap, it was nestled in the mud in the bent round end.

Then some unusual things, (for us I mean) a thimble, buckle, decorative piece and what I can only guess is a lead ingot? The usual lovely button and a fork / spoon handle?

Oh and this shiney beauty… we think it’s Charles 2nd shilling (1660~85) But still checking… xx

Good to hear your getting some rain, from what I have read it’s been exceptionally dry there. Good finds, wtg.

Sweet hammie! WTG
Nice to see you put a silver in the keeper pouch.
Well done.

Big hammered like this Charles I Shilling are a scarce find, I knew it wouldn't be long before you got another hammered, just guessed the wrong coin.
I think it was minted under parliament; 1642-1649.

Yep looked at it for hours before it dawned it was a (p) im amazed at how you look at marks/letters trying to figure out what they are… the thistle on the other coin, totally stumped us … then suddenly poof… it all becomes clear 😂 x

The thistle is always the clue its Scottish, but the book you need is;
''Coins of Scotland Ireland and the Islands'' Spink (I just have the 2003 version, prices don't bother me as much as IDing)

You have to remember Crusader, I didn’t even know it was a thistle, thought it was a dome like on the Taj Mahal….😂😂 x yes, I really am that dim 😂😂 x

Not really, it takes time to get your eye in, it will become easier. I know because I've had a few, but without the books & study I would have been clueless. Cru'dad & I can see things on Roman Scrappies that wouldn't be spotted by most detectorist because we have Record nearly 17,000 of them.
