Ace 350 LCD screen not working properly

I have a Garrett ace 350 and the LCD screen on it is starting to fade away. All of it works find except from the top of the sensitivity bar to the bottom of the screen (and side to side there). When it hits a target one bar from the sensitivity display lights up if it is directly below the target ID box that lights up. I think it might be because of the sun hammering down on it because the sensitivity bar is faintly visible in the shade but I really have no idea. I have changed the batteries twice, the most recent change was with batteries right off the store shelf. Any ideas or tips?
