The girls and I were out looking for deer sheds(found 2 ;D) this evening and did a little artifact hunting in a new spot we'd been wanting to check out.
My oldest daughter found this point(Cossatot or Martindale maybe?), and its almost perfect except for a little nick out of one ear. It has beautiful flaking and is about 1 1/2" in length. We found lots of flint and even a couple of big chunks(are these called spalls or core pieces?). There is also some broke pieces and another whole scraper/point . We're adding to our collection one point at a time and making lots of good memories! Hope you all enjoy! and thanks for looking!! regards, sandcreek4

That's a very nice point. Looks like you found a lot of interesting stuff. I like the antlers also,I've only found two so far. I have a buddy who has found thirty so far this year. Two matching pair.

Thanks Muddy Feet--we've found 6 matching pair of antlers this year and a whole bunch of singles. One pair of horns had 12 inch G2's! but his brow tines were broke. Here's a pic of our antlers~~kind regards, sandcreek4

Thanks Randy! If we find enough sheds, I'd like to have a lamp made up using them. I'll have to do something with them or my husband will use them in knife handles! kind regards, sandcreek4

Yes they do. I don't have as many as you do, but I find them every now and then.

sweet point, alot of interesting finds and that's a nice old shed. quality crispy photos too, thanks for sharing. I have to admit that I'd be working some of those sheds into stag handles for knives too, like the lamp idea also.

Sandcreek, check your paper for stores going out of business and for auctions for store liqiudations. I only paid $25 for that case at a store that was going out of business. I have another one just like it that my buddy bought at the same store and then decided to put his collection in a curio cabinet and gave me the case. I have another big one that I got for $20 because it didn't have any doors and the top glass was broken. I also have a curio cabinet I got when I was working at a furniture warehouse that came in off the truck damaged and they were going to throw it away so I got it and fixed it back to new.

Here's some pics of the big case that I got for $20, the other case like the one above, and my curio cabinet.

Those are nice cases! I'll have to start looking at the local auctions and see if I can find some. I might need a bigger house, though ::)! Thanks for showing all your cool artifacts! Looks like you have a lot of pottery pieces, too?

Yeah, we find a lot of Pottery Shards on the Ft Ancient sites in our area. I usually don't pick them up unless they are a rim piece or a piece with a handle. I display the better ones and I have boxes and boxes of pieces.
