Africa gold found in the Midwest

My top find of the day, a 1/10th ounce Kruegerand set in a pendant. May need a return trip or 2 to this spot as I found a couple old pennies. 1916 Wheatie and an 1898 IH cent.
Not sure if I stumbled onto an old swimming hole or if some "old sand" was deposited as part of the beach replenishment along the lakeshore. Also plenty of clad, an ear ring, & an anime theme pendant.

Great find... but I sure hope its authentic. Sadly, Krugerrands and associated jewellery have been among the most heavily faked gold items in recent times. Very difficult to detect, except by close examination of the details on the coins. The stuff that has been coming out of China has a heavy core to give it the right weight and is thickly plated.

That thought crossed my mind. The tone was true & solid as a rock, but I know that's no guarantee. Might have to run by the coin shop & a local jeweler for a couple of opinions. It sure was a thrill to find though!
I found it early on, just the 3rd target in a 2-hour sand fishing trip. I like to go in the evening to get the fresh drops, to get a jump on all the early risers that go MD at sunrise.
I was so tired when I returned home and posted last night, my great excitement and enthusiasm was not reflected in my post, but I was thrilled!
Found the old pennies in a nice carved trough in the shallows in the sand. I love to hit those troughs, especially after heavy storms or strong winds. Good luck to all out there.

Congrats on the finds but that "Krug" does look odd for a gold coin. It looks to have pitting on both sides.

I will definitely have it checked by someone who knows more than I about this one.
