Had a bad week, someone broke into my car stole 2 coils, 2 pin pointers, digging tools and work items. Then last night had to hold over for a sixteen hour shift so I couldn't go on the club hunt today. So me and my buddy Bryan decide to go hit an old park today. After about an hour I get this signal on the V3i good green freq from 3 different angles and a red one from the side. I dig down 5-6" and see a silver coin standing straight up and down in between some roots. I slowly work it out and see it's not a Barber or Merc. So Bryan sprays it off for me and it's a 1837 CAPPED BUST>. My first ever, never did I think I would get one from a park in Spokane. Later on got another solid signal at 9" dug up a 1898 Barber and I felt let down. Oh well hopefully life is changing for the better. Happy Easter to all of you or Happy Hunting

It's a long wait,but worth it.
Congrats

Sorry to hear bout your bad luck with the break in but I say things are definitely looking up now.

Congrats on the finds and especially the Capped Bust Dime! Sorry to hear you lost two coils, two pinpointers, digging equipment and other work items! If the theft occurred while your' vehicle was at your' home, you might want to be on the lookout for someone trying to break into your home, as they now know that the coils go to a metal detector and you likely have more equipment in your' home as well as some nice finds. I never keep my' metal detectors, my' pinpointer or anything else in either of my' trucks overnight or times when I am not using them as the heat or cold is too detrimental to them and they are too much of a temptation to thieves.

Congratualtions on the first Capped Bust! :occasion14:

A BIG congrats on your capped bust. I have been detecting 45 yrs. this March and have yet to find one. You just gave me hope on maybe finding one.

I was with Joe when he found his Capped Bust Dime yesterday.
It was a very exciting moment to say the least.
It took a few seconds to figure out what it was as we sprayed it off.
Capped Bust Dimes are not even on our radar as we detect.
To put this in to perspective. We are both avid old coin hunters and are lucky to find one seated coin
a year here in Eastern Washinton State. We pull many mercs and rosys and any Barber makes for
a good day. This find of his gives me hope to someday find one myself but I know deep inside
that this was a special find for our area and won't likely happen again.
The photo doesn't do it justice. It was a beauty right out of the ground.
Congradulations Joe!
Im glad I was there to witness your find.

Sorry to hear about the break in and thefts, that's a bummer. Unfortunately a lot of low-life's out there. I'm glad you got some consolation with the capped bust though, she's a beauty. Congratulations, and hang in there.

Very nice find, especially for your location. [emoji482]

I'm from spokane an I'm haven't found anything that old yet. Must be hitting the wrong parks. Also how are you digging your targets in the parks? I know they say only probes/screwdrivers can be used, but deep targets it's kinda hard to.

Hi Folks; HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.!!! May God Bless Al Of You & Yours. PEACE:RONB :usflag:

congrats on the Bust dime, that was certainly a pick-me-up after being hit by thieves. I hate thieves. I can't tell you exactly how I feel about thieves because this is supposed to be a family friendly forum. Anyway, I HATE thieves.

Mixed emotions here feel happy for the good luck, and a teeny tiny bit envious too but much worse for your bad luck. Hey but look at it on the bright side, this was one time getting "busted" was a good thing.

Spokane has quite a few old parks but they have all been hit very hard sense the 70s.
There are still old coins in them but you REALLY have to work for them.
Not many easy signals left and not uncommon to go home with just a wheat penny or two some days.
Any silver coin or IHC out of our parks makes for a good day.
Yesterday when Joe found his Barber and Bust dime I only found one wheat.
Wasn't my day is an understatement.
Check your wheats. We might not have the oldest coins in the country but we do have a lot of
S and D mint Mark coins. Key and semi key date coins are fairly common when you do find them.

Thieves SUCK!! Had my machine stolen this last fall...recovered outside of a local own shop before making it inside...good story in itself...but congrats on the great finds! Ddf

Sorry to hear of your stolen equipment. I hope they show up. GREAT find though.

The theft, I truly have zero tolerance for, lets hope the right Karma comes there way. Now, 1836? Capped Bust? in Washington State?, MackDog, you give me new hope here in Oregon. Great pictures, man I hope there will be many more of THOSE to follow for you. Added thought, I have only 30 yrs detecting in, I need to have patience.
