Alchemist Brews

Well, I kinda hit a milestone today. While some out there are working toward hunting 100oz by year's end, I managed to find my 100th silver coin while crh this year. Started in March. Took me $900 in mwr's this week to find it, but here it is:

Congratulations on reaching a nice milestone. I also started in March, and my findings have been similar--around 100 coins--26 ounces. I'm hooked on CRH, so I have no intention of dropping out. A silver here and there is enough to keep me going.

Funny how you only get $200 of mwr and the lone silver is a Ben. I mean, how does it end up there without anything else?

Nice Franklin. I'm planning to take a long drive through the city tomorrow and hit up a zillion banks for loose and hand-rolled halves. Supposedly this time of year there are tons of people redeeming their loose change to get Christmas money.

Hit a bit of a dry spell the last 2 weeks; I think I went thru about $1400 in halves ($200 at a pop) before I finally stumbled across my first silver of the new year:

Not really sure if I should start tallying fresh for 2015 or just continue tacking on to my current totals. I'm not a big-time hunter.

Ack! I'll just keep my totals going...

Yeah, I'm asking myself the same question. I think I'll start over fresh for 2015. My first silver for the year was a 1948-S Roosevelt dime. Good luck in 2015.

You too!

$400 mwr, yielding a little surprise:

That's a 1997 French Polynesian 100 Franc piece. Kinda cool. Oh yeah, and the 1967 silver.

The French Polynesian piece is fascinating--appears to be slightly smaller than a half. How much can you buy with it in French Polynesia?

well, I know it's worth $1, so I'm not sure how many bananas that would buy...

Not a home run box, but two silvers per box is about what most CRHers average over the long haul. Sure beats a skunk.

So, after nearly a month and about $4000 worth of mwr's (@ $200 per visit), I finally -- finally -- hunted down my next silver. I was beginning to wonder what I had done to piss off the silver Gods :'(...maybe I need to set up a second bank for pick-up's. In any event, hopefully this will mark the end of the drought. So, without further ado, I present to you my latest silver find:

That's a brutal drought...glad to see your back in the silver again. My last box was a skunk. It can only get better unless I guess I get shorted or cutoff :).

Another $800 in mwr's, and another 40%er: 1969. I picked up a bonus, though: 1975 Jamaican 50 cent piece. It's clad thru-and thru, and minted in large quantities. Rim is kinda cool, though.

So Zero, keep up the good work. I see you have found more this past month than I have the entire year! Wicked. Volume says it all.

Hey Alchemist, I got one of those Jamaican 50 cent pieces. When I opened up the roll I thought it was a nut of some kind. Weird looking thing.

It took nearly 3 weeks and about 3G's of searching, but I finally got another silver. 1967. Ain't she a beaut:

Nice find! Any silver is a sight after a bunch of skunks. Keep on rolling!

It sounds like we've been having pretty similar results so far this year... I just got skunked on all 8 boxes this week. After finding silver after such a long skunk streak it's like "Oh yeah, THAT'S what silver looks like!"
