Too many hobbies! This week I worked on restoring a 1940 Schwinn bike.

I restore and show antique engines and other farm related things. We do the show circuit from Indiana to Florida.

I was just wondering if all of you metal detecting enthusiasts have other hobby's or interests on top of metal detecting?
Heh, heh, heh... Lifelong or current? 😏😛

Most are shared with my Missus of 50mumble years.
  • Bluegrass (guitar—wife plays banjo)
  • Quilt Design (I design 'em, she sews 'em)
  • Herpetology (Beardie, Panther Chameleon, Western Hermann's Tortoise is hers)
  • Model RRing & railfanning
  • Raising, training, playing with our 2 service dogs (currently in-training)
  • Woodworking
  • Movies
  • Tabletop Board, RPG, & parlor games
  • Antique game boards
  • Geocaching (discontinued)
There are likely some I'm forgetting, and a slew of things we tried but didn't stick with.

So what about you, Garrett350@NC? 🤨

Outside of taking care of the farm and work - Metal Detecting is the only hobby I have time for.
No complaints here - I'm very happy with that ! :laughing7:

Besides detecting, I enjoy a couple other hobbies, I enjoy saltwater fishing and I also just started back painting landscapes after a 21 year break from painting. I was a certified Bob Ross instructor, technically still am I guess.

This is one I just finished 2 days ago. 18"x24"

A list of my larger collections although there are other random groupings of things probably too small to call a collection:

Ancient antiquities
Ancient and medieval coins
Pre-Colombian artifacts
18th century European, English, and Asian porcelain
Medieval manuscript pages
Cut precious and semi-precious gemstones
Meteorites and tektites
Luxury wristwatches
Original mid-century modern etchings and original art in general

I may have forgotten a couple but it’s difficult to keep track after four decades especially since some collections have been put aside as interests wander. The ones listed above are the ones I’m still actively pursuing and have been doing so the longest.

I also have three classic cars, a ‘64 Porsche 356, a customized ‘78 MGB, and a ‘86 Jaguar XJ6 that‘s my daily driver.

Have also been studying quantum physics for most of my adult life, as a hobby. Numerical Dyslexia kept me out of making it a career choice.

Nice hobbies, like the MGB, I owned 67 MG Midget and 68 Austin Healey Sprite in my 20s also owned 2 Miatas, still own one but thinking of selling it. There is 78 MGB GT renovated on local marketplace now.

I have an artifact collection as well, below is my lighted rotating case, have 3 other display cases as well, 2 are 7 foot tall book cases other is a lighted oak display case with glass fromt.
