Amazing detail on Franklin Half

I was going through my recent CRH finds, checking if I had a full roll of Franklin halves yet. No, not yet, but I noticed one of the franklins was in amazing condition - clear enough to see the writing on the Liberty bell.

This scan doesn't really do it justice, since you have to get the light just right, but I can make out "PASS AND STOW", "PHILA" (twice)", "PROCLAIM", etc.

Pretty cool.

Also is attached is a nice diagram I found of what the actual bell says.

yea some of the coin engravers are second to none!

I always like finding older coins in great condition because you have this "aha" moment and you think, wow I didn't even know that was on the WL or whatever coin you find.

If you check the price guides for Franklins, they have a separate category for FBL Franklins. It stands for "full bell lines", they are worth a bit more.
