American Portrait Miniature on Ivory

Wanted to share one of my finds that I got last weekend. It is an American portrait miniature on ivory by Morton H. Bly. Measures 3"x3.75" in the frame. I bought it at an estate sale, from one of my favorite estate sale companies.

Nice buy for $2, you never know what you will find! Saw a similar one with a girl holding a cat sold for a nice chunk of change in 2011. If you don't mind, will you sell it on Ebay or through an auction house? Just curious as I sometimes have good luck with auction houses, and sometimes Ebay is the place to be.

No kidding? That's a very unique find. The artist I would say should have some recondition I would think?. I'd say he's up in the Norman Rockwell skill of an artist. I wouldn't be surprised if you found some of his work in the publications of the times, like Saturday Evening Post or the like.

I just did a little look-see on Bly. If that was mine and I got it for 2 bucks, it go right in to my all thing wonderful collection. I'd keep that one and pull it out to admire from time to time. "Good Pick"

Amazing artwork. He had some talent. It will still be worth way more than $2 at some point in the future that you do decide to sell, so why not enjoy it while you have it! Congrats on the epic pickup!
