An Iron Patch kind of day, Hatchets and a Hibernia Ha'penny
I did about 3 hours on an area of my fave field that had a 1700's house once upon a time. The house was knocked down in the late 1800's and the ground is littered with iron. This is not normally a site for hammereds, although a sceat did come up here last year, but no hammereds for me today. One of the first signals was the Hibernia, but it is pretty toasted, you can still see what it is. Then I dug a hatchet, than some grape shot (I think) and lots of buttons. Then another live .45 round, followed by another hatchet and a little later a chisel or small hatchet. I have to say, I really enjoyed myself, just digging any good signal and occasionally watching the swallows diving for insects. My favorite find for today has to be the "Royal Marine Artillery" button, again pretty toasted, but a first for me

Reverse of Hibernia (Counterfeit?)

Hibernia obverse

Royal Marines button (front)

back (obviously
)

Grape shot, .45 round, a copper tip to something and some other bits

I keep finding these things, cast iron with holes through them. I've thrown a few into the bushes over the years too

Some of the buttons

Another assortment

The hatchet parade

The area I was detecting in
That's all for now, HH and stay safe
