Anchor Coal Company token ID needed

I'm just getting around looking at my finds from the past weekend. It's been a rough week due to the flu. This token (Obverse) reads: Anchor coal company Anchor KY. While the (reverse) reads: Good for 25cents in Merchandise. Can anyone help me figure out more info pertaining the token? Thanks...HHHH

According to www.coaleducation.org, they were in business in Prestonburg, KY from 1919 til 1930. The token itself was probably given in change at the company store.

Thanks chip but, where in the thread does it mention the Anchor coal company? I was going to read on the company but couldn't find your reference. Also, would anyone know the rarity scale? I found a denomination of 10 and 50 cents but not 25.

The Edkins Catalogue lists this token as R-8 ("10-24 known... $22 or more"). There are also 5¢, 10¢, 50¢, and $1 tokens in the series.

Dodrill lists the following "Anchor" name stores at Anchor, KY:

Anchor Block Coal. Co. — Anchor Block Store — 1928-33

Anchor Block Store — Anchor Block Coal Co. — 1931-33

There are also seven listings for Anchor Coal Company stores, but none in Anchor, KY.

nice token. not so common being an R-8. there are a lot of collectors in ky.
it's brass, so if it were mine, i would clean it up.
