Right in the middle of a farm field....this particular model was released in 1996, and I have to believe that it's cell phone technology like this that will greatly excite detectorists and archaeologists alike in about a thousand years if it were to be dug up. Also dug today were a copper tag with the Lord's Prayer on it, a Blue Bell button, and a couple of other things I can't ID yet.

A stone age artifact! To think ancient man once used that primitive communication device. Is it fossilized?

You might check to see if it has a memory card inside. It might actually still be viable.
Then, you could do a proper return. :)

1n 1996 Sprint featured "The Night owl plan" for 49.99 a month.
It offered 20 first free monthly minutes and then 1.25 for every additional minute between 7:00PM and 7:00 AM.
Any minutes outside of the allotted 7PM TO 7 AM guideline were $3.00 each

My cell phone bill was usually about $400 a month, a few times it peaked above $800 monthly

Yeah, As a younger man I owned a mortgage company. Including the salaries of the processors, receptionist, utilities, peripheral services, insurance and mortgage payments, my business overhead expense peaked at about $37,000 monthly.
I managed it and ultimately made lots of money.

I had a very different perspective then.

Looking back today It terrifies me, and makes me realize how blessed I am.

Cool finds! An unexpected phone... ehh?? LOL
Funny how they have changed over the years. Heck, now, you can get a "top of the line" phone, and it'll be "old" in 3 months!!
I have a bag in which I have put all old phones in when I get newer ones... feels wierd looking back at them all though it really wasn't all that long ago...
